Natural dimples on the cheeks are formed due a defect in the muscle of the cheek. These usually occur both the sides with one side being more prominent than the other. These run in families. Dimples become very prominent when people are smiling and laughing thus associating their presence to a happy person.
People having no dimples are usually in awe of them. Our office has a published technique which can give you an animated dimple (dimple which becomes more prominent when you animate).
Dimple Creation Procedure
This procedure is carried out from the inside of the mouth and a defect is created in the area where you would want the dimple. Care has to be taken to protect the nerves and the salivary ducts. The skin overlying this small defect is stuck down to the underlying connective tissue when the muscle contracts with smiling; it splits apart and allows the overlying skin to indent.
These dimples look absolutely natural and are permanent.
